We have camped here multiple times over the last few years. First in our travel trailer, then a small cabin, and now this year one of the new riverfront cabins. Management has changed since our first visit. They are very friendly and welcoming. The new cabins are clean and perfectly placed on the river to hear the rapids. The porch is fully screened, so reading a book and listening to the water without getting bit up is a huge bonus.
We camped here for 4 nights by the recommendation of our friends who had a good experience. At check in we had reserved and paid extra for a river site. The manager sent someone to check the site and she came back saying a seasonal camper had parked their cars there. So instead of making them move, they moved us to a riverview site, not on the river. No offer of refund for the difference. I received a map that was pretty hard to follow and we could not find our site number. Had to ask someone where it was. The day we arrived it had rained quite a bit so the sites were very wet, so already check in and set up was not a pleasant experience. We could tell they're working to improve the facilities. They do have a quite a few cabins and cottages which seem really nice. And it's about 5 or 6 miles outside of Old Forge which is convenient. We were supposed to camp for 5 nights but had to leave 1 night early. I stopped in the office to see if we could get refunded but that was a hard no. Honestly, first impressions with me are everything and I really tried to enjoy our time there, which we did have fun. But I do not appreciate businesses that are in it to just make money when camping should be a "customer first" experience. We will not recommend HTR Adirondacks Campgrounds.
This campground is under new management and is continually trying to improve.
Well-maintained grounds, very beautiful and is located on Moose River.
It’s the perfect distance from many activities and Old Forge.
The staff is friendly and very accommodating.
We had an issue with electrical voltage, Cindy and a staff member came down, and within hours we had an electrician at our site.
The electrician was able to fix the issue.
This team kept us updated throughout the process.
Very professional and everyone worked together.
We had a nice peaceful and relaxing stay.
We will be back!
Great spot right outside old forge. We stayed with 4 kids in one of their new cabins right on the river and it was great. Kids had fun playing at the playground and beach on site. The new management is making improvements, even got new picnic benches and fire rings during our visit. The staff was very quick to response to requests and helpful with any issues we had. Will definitely be back next year!
The park is under new management this year. The check-in staff was friendly and accommodating. The road through the park is narrow for bigger campers (ours is 40ft). Going into our site (126) we had a sharp turn in the road to make that wasn't the easiest and we notice people with smaller campers having a difficult time. Our site was narrow and we were unable to put our awning all the way out with the camper over as far as possible in the site. We made it work however. The river behind the camper was absolutely enjoyable and had it been warmer we would've been in the water. Even though the sites are situated close together it felt secluded. The noise from the river blocked everyone else out. We did notice that the grass waterfront sites were flooded from all the rain that we had. If you don't want to deal with flooding in your site I don't recommend these sites. I also can recommend not being in the 300's during times of heavy rain. Hopefully the new management continues to.improve the property. We will definitely come back to see what more they have to offer.
