Great place to camp the sites are nicely spaced the bathrooms are clean well stocked and have nice big doors that offer near absolute privacy... The shower facilities are adiquite and have hot water granted you don't go at a high traffic time... For someone hiking some high peaks and wants a good place to relax after a hard days hike you can do so here on the cheap
I was not satisfied with this campsite. The facilities were in poor condition, the staff was rude and unhelpful and they issued punishments without warning. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.
We camped there during Ironman Lake Placid 2023 (July 21-25). Very nice location, only 5 miles/10 minutes from Lake Placid. Very clean bathrooms and showers. There is a nice ice cream shop across the road.
Close to Lake Placid. Fairly quiet campground - only noise you hear is from the road since it’s close. But there are hot showers, flush toilets, drinkable water and decent-sized campsites. They don’t sell wood on-site so pick some up before you come. This was a good resting stop for us while we hiked high peaks.
This is a good campground for travellers. This is not backcountry or quiet off the grid camping. It’s fairly noisy during the day and busy, but not in a bad way. First night I was worried about all the noise and by 10pm it was essentially silent. Traffic on the road dies down and the restaurant next door closes and the campground is very quiet. The facilities were always super clean and nice to use. The staff were friendly and approachable and the campsites were nice. Second night I had to move over along the fence by the lumber yard and there was some lights, but honestly they were not that bad.
This is a perfect spot to camp for a few days and explore Lake Placid and surrounding area.
