Campground closed for renovations for 2018/2019 season
The park is located on US 41 in the northern outskirts of Henderson. It is 1/2 mile south of the US 41 bridge over the Ohio River and Evansville IN. The park is on the left heading south and the right heading north.
A beautiful place to camp. I had long back in in Fall so no crowds. Entry/exit onto Hwy 41 is HORRIBLE. I wonder what is done in summer. Need a tripped traffic light. And 90 degree intersection.
Camp ground was good, clean, and maintained but located close to very busy highway. The golf course is 9 holes and several are on steep inclines.
Absolutely beautiful park. The park currently has "Welcome Wednesdays" where admission to the museum and such are free. Nice gift shop, friendly staff. Nature center staff alerted to fact they were feeding animals, and we got to see a snake eat. Trails we went on are beautiful but very hilly. We did the Eagle Glen, and it was the hilliest of the few we hiked. We also took Warbler Road to Wilderness Lake trail and then branched off on Scenic Overlook trails. The overlook had beautiful views of the lake. We saw deer mulitple places, and ducks and lots of turtles at the lake. Also you can take stairs to the top of tower.
My husband and I drive through the park every time we visit Henderson .We go to the lake area and walk. The sculptures are beautiful .I noticed that there are cabins for rent , we may do that next time. We have been to a couple of the shelter houses for family reunions .The park has lots of room to roam , it is very peaceful . I wish they would repair the building by the lake before it us beyond repair .It has so much potential .
Campground was very clean and very well maintained! The bath house was clean and showers were hot!! The park had a great museum and a rather hilly golf course! We really enjoyed our time here!
