About Campground

The campground is on 10 acres of tree lined frontage on the Red River. There is a mix of trees/shade and open fields. It is a primitive campground, meaning that there are no power hook-ups or running water. There is an excellent canoe/kayak take-out. It's location in the heart of the Gorge makes it the perfect place for riverside camping and provides access to hiking trails.

Excellent kayak transport. Booked day of on the 4th of July and they took care of us with ease. Transported to start of the run with the other renters. Check in process was super easy and there was plenty of parking. Fortunate to hit the adventure tour trip because it had just rained so water was not low. Lots of opportunity to stop on the side off the river and do what you do- bring a cooler with what you want. Jump rock is along the way and a sizable amount of people there which was great energy. You end at the rental place. Maybe the transport was a little steep compared to all of the other experiences I had, but I had a great experience and would definitely recommend for any age group as the course is safe, easy and log free. Family owned business, Ernie is the owner and is a wealth of stories so get him talking on the transport!

Stayed at the Airbnb across the street. While the top campground we chose was a hike…it was a great mix of glamp and camp. Still in a tent, just not one we had to setup. Fun couples getaway for sure.

We went into this trip not knowing exactly what to expect (know that the adventure trip is 8 miles and took us about 4 hours), but had a wonderful time! We were so tired, but also satisfied at the end of our trip. Water levels were lower so we had to get out and pull our kayaks a couple of times, but this didn’t dull the quality of the experience. Bring water, snacks, and sunscreen!

We had a nice time doing the fall float. The people running it are very nice and helpful—they helped me sort out my booking and do something appropriate for the low water levels instead of spending over double the price for a longer booking that would have required a lot of dragging the kayak over rocks. Overall it was enjoyable and would definitely try again when water levels are higher and can enjoy some other adventures.

This place is Amazing!! Rented my kayaks on line! $50 bucks a person is definitely worth this trip. Was provided kayak paddle and lifejacket. You watch a short video, then you’r dropped off 8 miles up the river. The driver and tour guy was very nice.

It took us 5 hours but we took our time and enjoyed every minute. This is a great place to take in nature relax and enjoy the ride.
