Very nice state park. The camp ground is on the smaller side. Very friendly staff. Looks like a very new dump station.
Try the ice cream at the store.
I will never bring my kids back to this state park to swim! When we were done swimming there were leeches attached to one of our youngest children and one on my ankle. I understand they aren't preventable but I never thought I'd have to worry about the safety of my family with leeches so close to home.
The park is run down and needs a lot of work. Get it together Pike County.
My family visits Pike Lake each fall, and we are never disappointed by the beautiful nature that surrounds us, whether we are enjoying time together in the cabins, hiking, playing disc golf or enjoying the activities during the Harvest Moon weekend. We stayed in an updated cabin last year, which was extremely well done. It was very modern inside, with beautiful flooring and new furniture. It didn't really seem like we were in a cabin in the middle of the woods at all! If you were wanting a more rustic feel, the older cabins may be a better choice. Both options are charming in my opinion. All the amenities you could need are available in the cabin.
Very peaceful campground. Well taken care of. They have basketball courts, paddle boat and canoeing rentals for the lake or brink your own. Good fishing as everyone told me. Tons of trails all threw Pike Lake State forest that surrounded the campground. Nice camp stores, ranger station. No wifi or data if your on Verizon. Team mobile has 5 bars at 5g speeds down here. But you don't go camping to sit around on you phone all day. Do you?😁
The forest is great. Excellent native landscape. And the trails show it off well. Many of the trails are rather overgrown though.
Lake is small manmade with a small dam. Folks fishing on the beach against the rules. Signage was pretty poor throughout. Road through the middle of the park is noisy and full of speeders. No check-in for cabins or campsite. Store and nature center was closed all weekend.
