The park is about 4.5 miles northwest of the town of Cumberland. From U.S. Route 60, go west on Route 622 and south on Route 629 to the park entrance.
Our first time at Bear Creek Lake State Park and we loved it! What a fun place, with something to enjoy by everyone!
Just one of the many awesome VA state parks to pick from. The place is clean, the staff is friendly and you can't beat the price for what you get. I've been going to BCL for decades, and it's always a little better every time I go.
Beautiful lake with nice trails. Lost Barr trail needs to be better marked in the fall. Avenza app helped too often, and I would rather only take pictures.
Park is great for a day trip or weekend camping. We camped a 4 day weekend. Now I'm ONLY giving 4 stars because some camp sites are not in the greatest shape. We had a rough one, think side of mountain first night. However, park staff was AMAZING and helped us move to a newly renovated site that was absolutely perfect. Bath house is new and well kept, camp hosts in both areas, and wood and ice easily available. Plenty of fishing spots as well as a clean small beach.
Wow! This was our first trip camping here and I was so impressed. So many things to do and see. Lots of staff and rangers as well. They all were so helpful. Love that there’s activities for the kids.
Beach area is very nice and clean. Showers have hot water! Very well taken care of. Thank you VA state parks for such a great standard.
All the prices of snacks, food and rentals are very reasonable!! We’ll be back soon.
