Nice campground immediately adjacent to King's Dominion. They run a shuttle every half hour if you don't want to drive. It'd be nicer if the pool had longer hours (only open 10a-8p). And if you're a cashless facility, you really should have a working card reader for the laundry facilities. We couldn't do any laundry which was a bit of a hamper on our plans. But all in all, very nice. Staff were super friendly, pool was big and clean, and the playground was fun.
We stayed the night due to the convenience of it being next to King's Dominion. The good part was that the employees were friendly and the bathrooms were clean, but we decided to tent in the grass pads which were only about 2 car widths wide and poorly marked with the signs posted at the end of the site. The site itself was ok but around 8PM they turned on the lights around the pool which ruined the experience as we had light pouring into our tent and didn't get the campfire ambiance. It may be better in a different site, but sites 13-17 seemed to be impacted by the lights that didn't turn off for several hours into the night.
Really nice Campground, KOA does a great job. The staff were friendly and efficient. The sites were well marked and laid out well. If you want to go to Kings Dominion they have a shuttle to take you there. There are a lot of upgraded cabins here, this would be a great place to bring the family if going to the park.
Had some friends come and meet us for Halloween haunt and we decided to stay here and get the full experience! We had a great time tent camping. Love that they provide a nice big fire pit with an optional grate for cooking. The shuttle to the park was super convenient when we were having car troubles, and the tent sites are pretty well kept up. We felt very safe despite it being crazy busy. Definitely will be back!
We spent a week here while getting our RV serviced at a dealer down the road. The park is conveniently located next to Kings Dominion and even provides a shuttle to the park. We booked a few days here initially and had to extend our stay due to getting parts to repair our RV. Our check in and reservation changes were easy and the staff was very supportive. The park offers a lot of buddy sites, back in and pull through for those coming to enjoy the park next door. We opted for a buddy site and had no buddies the whole week. The site was very short for our 40ft toy hauler and parking our tow rig was not very convenient. Utilities were located on the correct sides although some sites sewer connections were a good distance from the RV. We walked the park almost every night and the park was always well kept. As with any RV park there are trains and roads nearby so expect some of that noise. Also be prepared for the screams coming from the park. Not annoying and I really enjoyed hearing people scream in terror and wished I was on the ride with them. This is one park we plan to come back to during the peak season to go and enjoy a few days at Kings Dominion. If you aren't sure what a buddy site is or how to use it, please ask the staff when checking in. We got a lot of entertainment out of other customers trying to figure out the sites and why the hookups were the way they were.
