About Campground

Enjoy the natural beauty of Virginia's Eastern Shore and the family-friendly fun of Chincoteague Island camping at our waterfront campground. We have a place for every type of camper to call home. You can get back to basics on a primitive tent site, sleep above the ground in a tree tent, try it before you buy it in an RV Rental, add a little luxury to your RVing with a deluxe patio site, sleep like an adventurer in a safari tent or get the ultimate glamping experience in one of our deluxe cabins or Island Bungalows. There are tons of amenities to keep you busy during your stay on Chincoteague Island. Take a dip in our pool, let the kids burn off some energy on our jump pillow or at our playground, take your pup to the dog park, or get in on the fun at the activities center. We also have a full slate of events and themed weekends, so there's never a dull moment. We're located in the heart of Chincoteague, so everything is at your fingertips. We're just one mile from the sandy beaches and wild ponies of Assateague Island National Seashore and great restaurants and shopping are just a short drive away. One of the island's premier attractions is just steps from the campground. At Maui Jack's Waterpark, you can cool off and relax in the lazy river or get your adrenaline pumping on twisting water slides. There's an area just for kids with fountains, tipping buckets and waterfalls and adults can lounge in a cabana or grab a cocktail and a snack from Keko's Bar and Grill.

The location and campground itself are really nice, but we were disappointed that our deluxe cabin wasn't as clean as we expected, plus the supply package didn't have a few things it said it would have... my wife has been here in the past few years and this is definitely the worst she saw it, we're unsure if we'd pick here to camp again. There's a lot of potential for this place if the service and maintenance were better!

Nice and cozy cabins. Need better mattress for pullout on couch. Floors are a bit soft with many dips in the floors. Clean the fan blades. But very comfy. Will definitely go back.

Stayed in our 45 ft camper, easy to get in and out, full hook ups. Well kept place, awesome customer service. The location is amazing out in the islands next to an amazing beach park. About 25% is seasonal sites but everyone was really great when we were there for Halloween.

Had a great time off-peak, first week of November. Stayed in a safari tent, it was so spacious and comfortable, great mattresses even with a very bad back. Plenty of electrical outlets, WiFi worked great. Bathrooms/showers were a little dated but kept tidy enough and good hot roomy showers. Loved enjoying the porch with the Adirondack chairs, picnic tables, fire ring every night. Very quiet, lovely tall pine forest and clear starry skies. I'm usually more into traditional/primitive camping but it was wonderful lodging, conveniently located for my trip, staff was friendly and accommodating, and I just had a really great stay. Thank you.

I will definitely be coming back and, though I like to make good use of my own tent and camping gear, it will be hard to resist the temptation of spoiling myself by booking a safari tent again!

Stay elsewhere. We had a safari tent and the flaps didn’t close. When we got to the tent birds had come in and pooped everywhere. We asked for new sheets at the front desk and for someone to fix the flaps. We also were missing the fan. Luckily we had baby wipes and could quickly wipe down the table and dresser so we didn’t get poop on ourselves. The sheets didn’t come after a few hours so we went back to the front desk to get some. The tent hadn’t been cleaned before our arrival either. There were snack wrappers and water bottles and other trash around.

The majority of the amenities were closed or shutdown (canoes, kayaks etc). The pool was open but it was moldy. You did get tickets to the water park next door, which was nice.

The worst part was the bathrooms. There wasn’t toilet paper and multiple toilets overflowed. There was at least two inches of mud in the entire bathroom. People were gagging it was so bad.

The site wasn’t very secure as anyone could drive in. Some sites had over the allotted car amount. People would steal your picnic tables too. And the quiet hours were a joke. Also, the bouncing pillow was only open half the time. When it was open it got so hot kids were burning their feet (bring grippy socks). Also many of the kids were unsupervised and pushing the younger kids off. One child was seriously injured when we were there.

This trip occurred in August of 2023.
