Claytor is a gorgeous man-made lake on the New River with a very interesting history (spoiler: there's a city under there). This area is amazing for fishing large mouth & small mouth bass as well as panfish and catfish. The lake is also beautiful to kayak or boat on at sunrise or sunset. There's also a nice beach area for relaxing and swimming. There are rentals in the area for visitors, but there is also a very nice campground at the lake. Awesome for locals and visitors alike!
Only stayed one night, but it is a pleasant well maintained park. It was alittle chilly, so we didn't go too far. Did take a lovely hike around one of the paths.
This is a beautiful park and lake with cabins on the lake and a dock for each cabin cluster...it has boat rentals, fishing, a marina and a beach! Probably the nicest lake park with cabins in virginia
Beautiful park! Camped for 3 nights here on our way back to Florida. Easy in and off the interstate and not busy during the week. Linda like a great summer place for swimming, boating and watersports too. Nice bike trail nearby, New River Trail, Rails to Trails.
Been there 3 times this week hiking the trails and looking at camp sites. It’s beautiful this time of year. Today was perfect weather. Bathrooms are spotless. Picnic areas clean and trash free. As you can see, dog friendly.
