Yep the administration side of the campground as an operation is definitely "wanting". I was once left out on the lake (ported up with my canoe to Half moon) and forgot about :) Although I enjoy an adventure, this negligence could be disastrous. This isn't a problem if you are at the campground.

This years funny story: The nice woman while trying to adhere to my request for a quiet site away from everyone had me follow along with her on the site map, for what appeared to be a long distance from the office but ended up being directly behind the office only 25 feet away. We laughed for the entire stay about her sense of direction.

Phone coverage in that area is pretty much none existent. I believe the office gets coverage as long as the weather is clear, which leads me to believe they may have satellite cell of sorts. This is not their fault- this is the woods.

Now, the lake.... it's amazing! 17 miles long, great fishing, and boats with motors ARE allowed. I personally like the loons at dusk. I love the lake, upside down administration and all.

Our family has vacationed at South Arm Campground numerous times over the past two decades for remote camping on Richardson Lake. This year, for the first time, I had the super friendly and helpful staff transport us to the site we reserved 4 miles up the lake with all of our stuff and a canoe. I now plan to get transported every time rather than trying to boat ourselves and all the gear! It made it so easy and fast. Before we knew it, we were on the camp site enjoying the peace and quiet of Maine's North Woods! Another wonderful week at South Arm Campground.

This is a bit unusual. I camped several summers on Richardson Lakes in The Narrows always the week of July 4. We were on the west side of the lake across from a great little sandy beach. It was probably on of the best memories I have of 1972,1973 and 1974. I loved that place. Unfortunately, I moved to the Chicago area and my Wilderness Camping was done in the Boundary Waters in Minnesota after 1974. Does anyone have pictures of The Narrows campsites as they are today. I am 75 years old now and living in FORT LAUDERDALE FL. I'd love to take a nostalgic trip via someone's pics of the camp site. Thanks, Andy

I cannot believe I failed to leave a review when we visited, so I'm doing that now. My wife and I honeymooned here and it was everything we could ask for. I had spent a trip at South Arm decades prior and when I say the word timeless, that's what South Arm is. I'll never forget my time here and long to get back up and say hello (once our little one is a bit older). Dotty, Leon, Peter and Belinda (I know I'm forgetting some names after 6+ years) were absolutely wonderful and helpful in everything from finding the closest place for supplies to learning how to use an outboard motor for the first time.

Peace and quiet. That's what you'll find here. An absolutely unforgettable experience.
