This the best snorkeling spot for kids to learn on the island. We tried at poipu and also other beaches with more waves and only had success here. So calm and so many fish!!

Clean, safe, and crowded even on Christmas Day. The protected lagoons were great for kids to swim around and snorkel. Lots of fish in the lagoons. Clean bathrooms, shower stands, shaded benches, picnic tables and parking lots. The only problem is the mouse. Pick up your food trash. Lock up your food. The mouse was very brave, as you can see in the picture. Be careful of the mouse if you want to sleep on the sand. 😊

Excellent snorkeling spot for beginners. There is also a great boogie boarding beach right nearby. Lydgate was a favorite for my family.

I've been coming here since I was a little kid in the 70s. It hasn't changed much, which is good. I have found lots of different types of fish in the ponds when I go snorkeling. Sometimes though, the water is very cloudy and you can't see anything. I think it's a great place for children and beginner snorkelers because the water is usually pretty calm and you are protected from the crashing waves.
