Located 8 miles from Hazlehurst and 5 miles from Uvalda. From Uvalda (the north), go 5 miles south on US 221, park sign is on the right, but turn left on Uvalda Landing Road. Then, turn left immediately into park entrance. Look for signs to Office/Heritage Center. From Hazlehurst (the south) go 8 miles north on US 221, look for sign on the right, and turn right onto Uvalda Landing Road. Then, take an immediate left and follow campground signs to the Office/Heritage Center. After 5PM, blow horn at the gate of campground, and the park host will open gate.
Full transparency - my wife and I are hosts at Towns Bluff Park and Heritage Center. We're full time RVers and Towns Bluff is a park we will visit again.
It's a quiet peaceful park with a great boat ramp on the Altamaha River. 25 large pull through sites with various hook ups in a tall pine forest plus a primitive area both with bath houses and hot showers. Certainly no hunting in the park but many hunters use the campground as a base camp during deer season.
Heritage Center is a well done project by local historians. Lots of local items and information about the area, river and past inhabitants. Talks and tours in the summer.
Come for an afternoon or a week, you won't be disappointed.
Great place ! Christmas Lights On The River
Very good. Needs more public advertising.
More people would come if they knew of them event.
Thanks for all the hard work !!
SUP / Camping Adventure on the Altamaha River started out camping in tents, yurts, a pull behind camper and rented at RV for the weekend. This place is a hidden gem in South Georgia. The prices are amazing low and the park is cleaner than so many we have stayed in. I highly recommend this place and we will for sure be back soon to float the river and eat at Benton's Lees Steak House just 8 miles down stream with a minimum float time of 2.5 hours with the water levels at 78 feet.
My husband and I (Pa and Mimi) stayed in a Yurt December 24-29, 2023. Our granddaughter, her husband and 3 young children are staying there in their fifth wheel camper because of his job.
Also, our son and daughter-in-law were in the other yurt. It was great fun being together for Christmas. The yurts are definitely bare bones, albeit with beds and a small table and chairs. A mini fridge and a microwave would been very nice. We brought our own bedding and a heater
This is a lovely place, I’m reluctant to review it because I feel like it’s my own little hide-out. Absolutely beautiful and quiet. Can’t wait to go back.
