I'll start by saying we went to bear cat prior to them closing and were very excited to go again once they opened back up. The floating experience was all totally fine. The bus ride, drop off etc. They said we floated at 10 but it was at 9. No biggie. The front desk lady wasnt super organized. It was a cluster at check in. They didnt tell us to fill our tanks prior to parking. So that was a mess having to pull back out and get water. The hill where our spot was made it almost impossible to park. We had to take our spare tire off or it would have broke off. It was a mess. They do not have a dump station. We traveled 22 min to the johnson shut ins state park and paid $10 to dump. There was a camper across from us with screaming loud music. We went to the office to ask if they could turn it down a bit we couldn't even hear our music but they refused to go tell them. When we went to leave we noticed the people left there camper so i can only guess they are regulars so get special treatment. To pay as much as we did there wasn't enough amenities to justify the cost.

Black river in MO, clear all the way to the bottom, and more for an experienced camper or RV. Float was great, people are great, and hope to come back!

I can't imagine anyone camping here if they've ever camped anywhere else. It was dirty, the staff at the front desk was rude and snippy. There are 0 spots on the river. You have to hike to get to the river. There are way too many places to choose from on the beautiful black river to actually want to camp here. We will never go back.

Camp sites, roads, restrooms and shower houses maintained well. I didn't use bug spray and didn't get bit. Our site was a few minutes walk to the Black River who's water is clear to the bottom in so many places. Gravel bar beach offers excellent night sky view. Staff is friendly and helpful, even gave us ride when we had a flat tire. We love camping there, especially when there's a good show. Good options for nature lovers and party people too! Love it!
