About Campground

The Town of Lake Elmore calls itself “The Beauty Spot of Vermont.” Located in the southeastern part of Lamoille County, Elmore is mostly forested and agricultural land. Lake Elmore and Elmore Mountain, which rise almost from the lake’s shore, are prominent features of the town.

Lake Elmore is 219 acres, lies northwest of the village, and empties into the Lamoille River through Pond Brook. Elmore Mountain is in the "Worcester Range" and its timber is mostly hardwood. The mountain has an elevation of 2,608 feet.

The park had its beginning in 1936 when the town of Elmore and local citizens made a gift of 30 acres on Lake Elmore to the state of Vermont. With modest means, a picnic and beach area was created. Today, with more than 700 acres, Elmore State Park has become a popular, developed recreation facility.

The park has a campground with 44 tent/RV sites and 15 lean-to sites

with 2 campground bathrooms with flush toilets, hot and cold running water, and coin-operated showers.

A local resident recommended this State Park for the best Fall foliage views without the tourist crowds and WOW! This park was amazing, the colors of the trees really popped against the lake. We drove up the dirt road as well to check out some of the hiking that was available. It was mostly empty on a Friday during peak fall season. I would definitely recommend!

Great place for summer adventures! I always recommend this state park for day trips. Awesome family hiking with great views on Mt. Elmore, and the beach is very clean and not overly crowded like some more popular locations in the state. The campground is very basic, but I didn't expect anything else from a $20/night tent site at a state park. The site itself was clean and secluded. There were a lot of campers but it was quiet. As others have mentioned, this campground would benefit from a playground of some sort for the kids, but at least there is the beach and hiking to keep them busy.

We love camping here. Pretty quiet campground with one of the best state park beaches. There's some awesome hiking trails as well. A fun way to spend a weekend or a week!
