About Campground

Fishing. Swimming. Boating.

Shady grounds. Pool. Boat docks.

Rooms. Suites. Houses. RV hookups.

Families and fishermen have enjoyed relaxing getaways at Valentine Lakeside for more than 65 years. The quaint vacation destination is on the quiet, breezy banks of the Llano River in Kingsland, Texas, near where the Llano River meets the Colorado River to form Lake LBJ.

Valentine brings people together to enjoy a slower pace and make memories that last a lifetime. The sunrises and sunsets – and the people who come here to watch them – are amazing.

Valentine’s 19 guest rooms range from 1-room efficiencies to 3-bedroom homes, all with fully stocked kitchens, charcoal grills and picnic tables. The RV camp has 8 full hookups and a bath house. Valentine is a great choice for any of life’s celebrations, reunions, retreats, weddings and company gatherings. It’s also a base for fishing tournaments, a temporary home for Winter Texans, and a guest house for locals.

Valentinians enjoy a heart-shaped pool, swimming in the lake, boat lifts, water-toy rentals and an on-site essentials store. Plenty of chairs at the shoreline give guests a place to fish and hang out. Mature pecan trees provide a shady canopy for hammock naps. Guests make s’mores in the fire pit and borrow lawn games to play on lakeside terraces.

Despite its remote vibe, Valentine Lakeside is a half mile away from a groceries, restaurants, bars, shops, coffee houses and music venues. Those who love exploring small towns head to nearby Marble Falls, Llano and Burnet. Plenty of wineries, breweries and distilleries are close. Golfers choose from eight courses within a half hour drive. The pass-through lake in the Highland Lakes chain is perfect for waterskiing, jet skiing, boating and fishing.

Valentine is in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, where there are festivals and markets year-round. It’s one hour from Austin, two hours from San Antonio and less than four hours from Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston.

The owners are so nice. The boat ramp could be overhauled but other that that, pretty nice place to stay.

We had an incredible stay at Valentine Lakeside! The property was a lot of fun with beautiful views of the Colorado river. If you’re looking to rent a cabin with family or friends, then this is the place to go! We also met the owners and they were extremely nice and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Great little place on the lake. They have a place for boats, swimming in the lake and the mats. The pool was nice and clean. Places to park your RV. The cabin had a fully loaded kitchen. The front porch has rocking chairs, and the back patio, you have your own grill with a picnic table. Owners were very welcoming.

Valentine Lakeside is a splendid place to stay. It's in a great location, it's right on the water, there's plenty of space on the property, and it's affordable. What really sets it apart are the people though. The owners, Pat and Susan, are the best! They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and often have time to chat. Not only are the owners great, so are pretty much all the people who stay there. Now, I was there for three months for work so I can only vouch for the February-May Winter Texan crowd, but we had a blast and I wish I had had more time off work so I could've attended the daily happy hours. Basically, if you go here and so desire, you'll be added to the Valentine Lakeside family which is a pretty great family to be a part of!

We took our first camping trip in our Airstream this weekend. After a week in a State park, we arrived at Valentines on Thanksgiving Eve. We were pretty worn out from driving 5 hours from our last campsite and had called 12 restaurants in Kingsland to find a meal that we didn’t have to cook at such a late hour. I called and asked Pat if she knew any restaurants open on Thanksgiving Eve. She insisted that we come to her home for leftovers from a humongous meal that she and many, many friends had cooked earlier. She brought us 3 heaping plates of every kind of homemade ham, turduckin, casseroles, cornbread, potatoes, cranberry relish, green beans and a heaping plate of 5 different desserts. Pat and Susan are the #1 hosts of any type of RV park we have ever been to. They went out of their way (on a holiday) to make sure we had everything we needed to get settled in. Their kindness and willingness to help will never be forgotten and will be paid forward, I promise! All this was in addition to the most gorgeous spot on the lake with manicured lawns and many many places to sit and enjoy the lake, right in front of you. The cabins are also wonderful, as we had 16 family members staying in cabins. They are very well stocked, clean, comfortable and cozy. When you visit Valentines Lakeside, it doesn’t feel like you are staying in a resort…it feels like home! We will definitely be going back many, many times to enjoy this slice of paradise. I will never be able to express my gratitude and respect for Susan and Pat.
