If you are looking for a unique weekend escape from reality, The Purple Greenhouse is here for you. This Boho styled 28’ x 17 greenhouse offers a one-of-kind experience.
This is a small mom and pop company, not a big cooperation.
Kitchen basics provided are: air fryer, coffee maker, kettle, outdoor grill and plates/cups/cutlery. There’s a big sink for cleanup inside and a fully functional bathhouse with restroom down a quick path through the woods. Towels are provided. Starlink WIFI is available (but not super fast). A school locker with padlock is provided for personal items. No pets are allowed.
The bathhouse is for the use of the Purple Green House guests as well as Mojo Dojo campsite guests. Each site is limited to only 2 adults. As you would imagine, the Purple Green House is filled with lush tropical plants. Some are unusual plants along with many old favorites like a 30+ year-old ponytail palm that is one of the shining stars! A large Myers lemon tree also thrives here and an 8’ Plumeria lives there during the cold weather. Tropical plant care 101 class is available, please inquire about additional costs for this.
The greenhouse is provided with 2 large hammocks, with the small hammock pillow and 2 blankets each. If you require different pillows or bedding please bring with you. Please note this is a real working greenhouse so there is no air conditioning. In cooler weather it stays nice and warm with butane heat and a large swamp cooler is used in hot weather to keep the temperature stable. Two personal size electric heaters are there for you to use as well. The ventilation and evaporation fans are automatic and are only adjusted seasonally.
For privacy there are shutters, shades and draperies that assure a safe feeling for all guests especially in the twilight hours. Faerie lights and a bluetooth speaker are all here for your comfort and entertainment. There are camp chairs and an ice chest for your use. Enjoy the secluded, shady, seating area outside near the fire ring or hang a hammock outside between the trees. The Purple Green House was created almost exclusively with recycled and/or repurposed materials, from the vintage windows harvested from historical Austin homes, recycled glass bottle bricks that form the foundation, to the repurposed clear vinyl panels that are the roof.
This special place could be your next refuge. Artists, writers, musicians, nature lovers, and yoga practitioners will love what this property has to offer.
Great place to have family gathering, celebrations and weddings and or receptions.
This is a very pretty location that would be great for any event. It's secluded and quiet. The pond and trees make for beautiful pictures.
We had our 50th wedding anniversary celebration at the Blue Door Greenhouse event venue. If you’re looking for a secluded venue surrounded by nature, this is the ideal place. Full of trees, a beautiful pond, and open pasture, it’s peaceful and serene. The sunset views are beautiful outside, and the evening light inside the greenhouse is lovely, even before the cafe lights come on and make the building glow. We had drinks and hors d’oeuvres outside in the shady courtyard and around the fire pit and took in the scenery. Our guests enjoyed strolling along the boardwalk next to the pond. We moved the party inside for our buffet dinner, but kept all the doors open so the rest of the evening had an indoor/outdoor feel. The venue made it easy for our caterers to get in and set up in no time and without interrupting the party. We also appreciated that the venue includes tables and chairs. The standard guest and display tables provided are wood not plastic, so there’s no need for table linens unless you want them. The provided chairs are sturdy and compliment the tables nicely, all of which helped make decorating the space easier. Decorating for an event like this isn’t a particular strength of mine so I appreciated that the event coordinator suggested ideas for how best to arrange the space and provided access to the venue’s warehouse full of decor items that are available to use free of charge, to supplement our decor. The result was beautiful and just the look I wanted. The only concern I had was that our guests might have trouble finding the place, due to the remote location. But it turned no one had any problems at all; the venue provided clear and specific directions that we included in our invitations, and not a single guest had any problems finding us. I think the venue would be a great location for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, or any large gathering.
