We took our first camping trip in our Airstream this weekend. After a week in a State park, we arrived at Valentines on Thanksgiving Eve. We were pretty worn out from driving 5 hours from our last campsite and had called 12 restaurants in Kingsland to find a meal that we didn’t have to cook at such a late hour. I called and asked Pat if she knew any restaurants open on Thanksgiving Eve. She insisted that we come to her home for leftovers from a humongous meal that she and many, many friends had cooked earlier. She brought us 3 heaping plates of every kind of homemade ham, turduckin, casseroles, cornbread, potatoes, cranberry relish, green beans and a heaping plate of 5 different desserts. Pat and Susan are the #1 hosts of any type of RV park we have ever been to. They went out of their way (on a holiday) to make sure we had everything we needed to get settled in. Their kindness and willingness to help will never be forgotten and will be paid forward, I promise! All this was in addition to the most gorgeous spot on the lake with manicured lawns and many many places to sit and enjoy the lake, right in front of you. The cabins are also wonderful, as we had 16 family members staying in cabins. They are very well stocked, clean, comfortable and cozy. When you visit Valentines Lakeside, it doesn’t feel like you are staying in a resort…it feels like home! We will definitely be going back many, many times to enjoy this slice of paradise. I will never be able to express my gratitude and respect for Susan and Pat.
