I make a point to stop here every time on my way to Big Bend. "Rest Area" is an understatement, this is a beautiful public park funded by private donation. Amazing view up the river/canyon, super quiet and peaceful, beautiful sunsets. No toilets, there are trash cans, but be sure to secure your trash in a way that animals/wind won't spread it across the scenery.
This "Rest Area" doesn't have restrooms. It is a picnic area with amazing views of Pecos River Bridge and the northwestern end of Amistad National Recreation Area. The picnic tables are metal. We enjoyed our lunch here and saw a lot of vultures, ducks in the river and Osprey hunting for fish.
I spent the night here in my bus conversion with my 4 dogs. Extremely peaceful and the most beautiful place I’ve ever slept. No bathroom or other amenities but I’d highly recommend stopping in your way through!
As a big fan of bridges, this was great to see! The whole area is beautiful although the water wasn't really running. This rest stop was spacious and had tables that were covered. There was one vehicle there when we arrived that left pretty much immediately. No restrooms.
