The Seymour Johnson AFB FamCamp is surrounded by heavily forested areas and tucked far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the base to ensure quiet relaxation, but close enough that several key support facilities and parks are within easy walking distance.
A nice campground if you passing through the area and wanted to stay a few nights. Everything there is close by right outside the base!
The campground is ok for the price. Almost all the long term sites are filled, but they are expanding (creating 8 or so new sites). It's nice having a laundry room onsite and there are 2 bathrooms in the same building. I gave a 3 because most of the long term sites are not level and when you stay here, you are basically on your own. They cut the grass about once per month, so bring your own mower, etc. The other campers are very friendly and there are lots of dog owners. I do like that the sites are full hookup and we have a dumpster and dog waste bins. So you don't have to haul waste. There is also a dump station here too. The base offers alot to do for kids in the summer.
Wanted to stay at this Fam Camp to visit my son before continuing south. We were very concerned about the stay process because they did not take reservations. Well they do now!!!!! Four days before leaving Pennsylvania to head south, I looked on their website and found a reservation request form. I completed the form and the next business day, the Rec Center called me to confirm my stay. We are staying in site 20 with our fifth wheel and the site is a long concrete pad with full hookups. The site is woodsy. The morning Reveille makes me proud to be an American. This is a great service that AFB's provide!!!!
I'm giving it a 5. Full hookups were nice. Price was great. No one bothered us...and had cool neighbors. Rode out TS Ophelia...pine cons bam bam bam on the roof. The only detriment are the pine trees. Will definitely visit again.
