Cliffs of the Neuse State Park is located in Wayne County, 11 miles southeast of Goldsboro on NC 111. From I-40 in Raleigh, take exit 309 and head east on US 70 for approximately 50 miles. After driving through Goldsboro, turn onto NC 111 south and travel for about ten miles. Turn left onto Park Entrance Road. From southern North Carolina, take Exit 341 off of I-40 and head east on NC 55 for 30 miles. Turn north onto NC 111 and travel two miles, turning right onto Park Entrance Road.
The Cliffs of the Neuse is a nice spot to go walking, as there are tracks for the deliberate purpose of walking... okay, maybe hiking would be a more appropriate word for this situation, as with those paths there are areas you've gotta be careful about.
So long as you've got a map, a good head on your shoulders, and considerate of others, I think you'll be fine.
They also have a small museum in the visitor's center, and that's sweet.
I only have one complaint, but it's minor in the grand scheme of things, and that's the location. The Cliffs of the Neuse takes about half an hour to get to from most areas outside of Seven Springs.
Great way to spend an afternoon! There is a nice visitors center that has an interactive learning space for kids, and a gift shop. Plenty of activities to do, I have enjoyed fishing, hammocking, and hiking. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a place to explore, and get out in nature.
The only complaint we have is... we wish they had an open spot more often! 😊 Cliffs of the Neuse is a beautiful place, and we highly recommend visiting, but plan in advance!
Restrooms are very clean and spacious. Friendly campground hosts, shady, and the camp spots are separated by trees and undergrowth, which is nice! You dont feel like youre exposed to everyone when sitting in your camp chair.
My visit to the Cliffs of the Neuse State Park was an absolute breath of fresh air. The park's commitment to cleanliness and maintenance is evident, making it a top-notch destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. The Visitor Center serves as a warm welcome gateway, staffed by exceptionally helpful park rangers ready to guide and enhance your experience.
The highlight of my trip was the enchanting 1-mile hike along the Moss Trail, where the blend of scenic views and tranquil woodland whispers created a perfect symphony. The park's allure doesn't stop there, with several other trails beckoning for exploration, promising new adventures with each visit. It's a pristine natural retreat that promises peace, beauty, and a reconnection with nature. I'm already planning my next journey back to tackle the trails yet to be discovered.
