We came here Sunday and had a great time with our family. My wife was a little nervous to bring our two girls, ages 9 & 7, who had never been tubing before and aren't the most adventurous. We had a great experience.

We were greeted warmly and the staff was super friendly. They answered all our questions and showed us a diagram where we should all put in the river to avoid some of the bigger rapids above the bridge. We felt safe and cared for and the life jackets for the kids were clean and gave us another level of safety.

A few tips:

-They say to get there 15 minutes before to go over a safety speech. We got there 15 minutes early but felt rushed to get our things out of the car and get ready, so next time I would plan come 25-30 minutes early.

-The green tubes are the "premium" ones and they fit me (6'4" 200lbs down to my kids). Having the rope connector is super helpful to keep our group together.

-The website says it normally takes 2-3 hours, but I felt we moved pretty fast (I even quickly walked and pulled my group the last quarter mile to avoid an incoming rainstorm) and we were on the river about 2.5 hours. We were way ahead of the rest of our group, so if we casually floated the river, I'd say it was closer to 3-3.5 hours.

-There are changing rooms (stalls behind a curtain), a rinse off station, and a place to store your keys/valuables if you don't leave them in your car or plan to take them down the river.

-Our kids only had to wear the life jackets down the first set of rapids after the bridge and didn't want to nor need to wear them the rest of the time.

Our girls were sad you didn't offer pink tubes, but hey, can't please everyone :)

Thanks for a great trip!

Our family had a great time today using Dan River Outfitters for a Sunday float! We had our 7 and 8 year old kids with us and they loved it! The connector tubes were awesome- no fiddling with ropes. Getting in and out was very easy as well. Thanks again!!

Very nice folks. Don’t sleep on the connector tubes. Our group had a great time. Our float took just over 3 hours but could have easily taken longer if we chose to stop and chill in more shady places. Parking appears to be very limited but we had an early float so it wasn’t an issue. We’ll definitely come back.

1 year in the area. What a treasure to find this place!

Took 2, 12 y/o, rented tubes, started at the lower rapid of the park. They shuttled us to drop off and picked us up. We definitely will get the tethered tubes next time with the kids. Absolutely loved how down to earth the two that runs this business. I was late with our reservation and they were so kind! Learned about the history of the property and their vision. LOVED!!!! Will definitely be back without kids and with…they do movies, concerts & glamping 😍😍😍🤩

We’ve tubed a lot in NC (and around the south!) and had an excellent experience with Dan River Outfitters today. Love the online booking and options for connector tubes and a cooler connector tube. Those tubes are brilliant and made it so easy to float with a big group and chat and stay together.

Plenty of parking. Loved the details of outdoor rinse stations and indoor changing spaces. Here’s a big deal: the ride is like… 10 minutes but the float is 3 hours. That’s HARD TO FIND! Sometimes to have a long float like that you end up on a shuttle for 45 minutes.

The staff here is upbeat, friendly, and it’s clear from their safety briefing that they sincerely care about customer safety and respecting private property near the River.

Zero complaints. 10/10 recommend for anyone who enjoys outdoors. Kids will love it. Super gentle float on Labor Day weekend.
