About Campground

Lower Karr Canyon Campground has undeveloped campsites scattered above and below the Karr Canyon Picnic Area. Forest Road 63 is gravel and can be rough. Fire rings are available. Tent camping is allowed here and there are a number of lovely spots for you to choose from, all of which are accessible by walking in to the site from the parking area.

Directions

From the Village of High Rolls along US82, turn south onto Forest Road 63 (Karr Canyon Road). Continue for approximately 5 miles, the campground will be on the right side of the road. The last 1 mile is a dirt road. This road can be closed during winter months due to heavy snows.

Great camping location, especially further west into the unimproved areas. Fewer people out there usually. (Probably due to distance from the vault toilets.)

Bring a hummingbird feeder for great entertainment. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Have visited this spot almost yearly for almost a decade, always have a great trip.

By the way, if you're awoken in the middle of the night by a blood curdling scream, it may just be a fox in heat!

Nice secluded canp ground. This is definitely the place to go if you want to get away from people. I camped here in late August and didnt see anyone else the whole weekend. There are 5-6 camp sites with a picnic table and fire ring. The site itself is nothing too special, but it's very wooded and nice and quiet.

There are 2 sites up the valley above the rest room that are much nicer than those down near the road.
