Love this place! We've stayed here twice now and each time has been special. The creek running through provides a perfect background noise that lulls you to sleep. Sites were level and had no issue finding a place for our tent. Bathrooms were always clean when we were there and smelled great. There is a trailhead right in the campground for easy access to multiple trails in the area. Close enough to Questa for supplies and while it is a bit close to the highway, noise was never a huge issue. Only downside is we could not move the picnic table at the site which was fine for our setup but I do prefer when you can arrange the site as you like. Decent 3G signal on Verizon too for all important weather monitoring during the summer monsoon season.
Cindy our camp host was probably one of the sweetest humans I have ever met. She made sure we were happy and had the best spot available. She came by multiple times throughout our stay just to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. She even went as far as delivering our wood and brought us a copy of the trails through columbine. The restrooms were the cleanest I have seen for a campground, and Cindy was out there making sure they were well maintained and kept. The campsite was spotless, and gorgeous. We stayed in spot 27, right next to the river and enough for two large tents.
Love the location of this campground. Very family friendly and short walk to the trailhead that leads to other awesome trails. About 5 miles away from town, so it was very quaint and peaceful. Grounds were kept up very well and bathrooms always smelled good and super clean. Pressurized well water was great to drink and for other uses. During our stay, there was a fire ban so we used our camping stove. Children had a great time and will for sure be back to this very same campground. Stayed at campsite 3 which was reserved a week out. There are first come first serve spots available, but they went very quickly and stayed occupied.
