Travelers along the Santa Fe Trail used to arrive on horseback or by wagon to this lawless frontier town, where Billy the Kid once evaded a lynch mob. Today, travelers enjoy a more civilized reception at this KOA, tucked into the pinon- and juniper-scented foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Wagon-wheel ruts, 900 historic buildings and the Fort Union National Monument highlight the area's past. Lakes and a national wildlife refuge showcase its natural wonders. Come in for our tasty breakfast buffet from 7:30 am to 9:00 am at a bargain price of only $6.00 plus tax per person. Find Southwest items in the campground store. Pool: May 15 - September 15. Very disappointed with the showers here, very small, NO handicap showers ir you are over 5'10 good luck there is not enough room to even undress, or dry off in those showers very uncomfortable to say the least. I used the bathroom and when I tried to get out the door was stuck I was trapped inside. The staff is friendly, they have a outstanding breakfast. The dogs barking all night it was the management dogs doing it. We were in the tents area, very noisy neighbors across from the KOA as well.We have a KOA Campgrounds membership and this is the worst KOA we have stayed at. We won't repeat it I tell you....
Very friendly staff, very clean, NO handicap showers this needs to be addressed, very small if you are over 5 10' good luck. Lighting outside by tents site none existent, Very noisy the owners dogs constantly barking all night. Great breakfast prepared fresh and very reasonable. Very friendly cat 🐈 named Missie. Overall I give it 3 stars because of the noise by the dogs and me been disabled the showers need improvement.
Friendly folks, clean park that is well kept. Very helpful staff and always great service. Would like to go back again some day, we thoroughly enjoyed our extended stay.
