From interstate 25 take hwy 550 (exit 242) to state road 4 in San Ysidro, then proceed 7 miles past Jemez Springs and turn on state road 126. Fenton Lake is 8 miles further from that turnoff.
I have always loved Fenton lake. I have traveled there from Albuquerque for the last 45 years. The Jemez wilderness has always been such a great place to be to have a wonderful weekend there is Soo much to do there.
Great , ice fishing,! And spring fishing is great too! just remember to let some go! And always wet your hands before touching them. If you don’t they will die in a few months don’t wipe there slime off them. It doesn’t come back so be kind try to not touch them use pliers 😉😃😀
Gorgeous views, diverse wildlife watching, and great trout fishing! We were here in November after Thanksgiving and recommend dressing in layers as it’s nice and warm when the sun is out, but as soon as it’s gone it gets cold QUICK. The drive out is also very beautiful and scenic. Dress warm, it’s worth it!
Fenton is in my heart as a childhood and adulthood favorite! It’s a beautiful little lake. My sister and bro in law catch fish when the fish there. I don’t fish but I love to be on the water in the pedal boat! So serene and picturesque! Great for a day trip or camping! Make sure to reserve online!
