This is a FREE national forest site along Hwy 58. There are quite a few of these sites within 3 miles of this site. Road side, but with the creek next to you it drowns out all road noise.

There was a great shelter about 6 miles in on the AT except a tree fell on it and it was dismantled and not rebuilt
A great place to day hike or backpack. Horses are also welcome. The wild horses, bear, and other fauna and flora are beautiful.
Great place for small conventions. The restaurant had creative offerings though I never dined there. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were very clean. Despite the proximity to the airport, I rarely heard a plane fly by.
I'm not a camper (I don't like dirt or bugs) and I'm not a hiker (same), but I can appreciate a beautiful view and the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area is chock full of scenery. Well managed forests and roadside pullouts and fantastic views of green valleys make my day.
Plenty of opportunities for camping and hiking and maybe even fishing, if those are things that interest.
