Located conveniently just near the quaint town of Fort Davis, Texas on Highway 17. Take Interstate 10 to the Balmorhea exit at Hwy 17 , take Hwy 17 south to Fort Davis, continue on Hwy 17 past Fort Davis High School. Macmillen RV Park is 1/8 of a mile south of Fort Davis on the left behind Pops Grill.
This is a small park on the outskirts of Fort Davis, making it very convenient to the Fort Davis National Historic Site, Fort Davis State Park and the McDonald Observatory. A lot of good here, including full hookups: water, 50 amp service, sewer, cable TV and reasonably good wifi. Sites are OK. Smaller than most, but larger than some on gravel pads. I gave them only 3 stars because of overall cleanliness and attractiveness of the park. We arrived and our site was littered with cigarette butts, bottle caps, and a bar-b-que grill that had been left behind by a previous camper. Walking around the park, we found cigarette butts EVERYWHERE. We chose a site on the edge of the park to obtain some privacy, but because it was on the edge we also had a full view of a garbage heap and a wood pile on the adjacent property. They could easily improve with some screen fencing and an overall cleanup of the property. Pricing was reasonable at $30 per night, but keep in mind the State Park is nearby and offers the same amenities with none of the unattractive qualities. Also, Jeff and his wife were fantastic. Very welcoming and friendly, they also made every effort to make us comfortable in our site. I'm rooting for this place, with a few enhancements it could be a five star property.
Stayed here 4 nights during spring break. No frills basic RV park with full hookups, gravel drive, laundry room and bathhouse. Helpful attendant on site. Bathrooms were out of service for most of our stay but not a huge issue. Easy access to many area attractions. No 30 amp receptacles so you may need an adapter to connect to the 50 amp service. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
My fiancé and I stayed here for 4 nights while on our West Texas road trip and it was absolutely wonderful. The grounds are perfect for what we needed and there is access to laundry as well as clean showers and bathrooms in case you’re tent camping. The surrounding area is beautiful and the owner is hospitable and accommodating. We will definitely be back!! Highly recommended!
Stayed here for 4 nights on a family camping trip. They allowed us to place our two campers opposite ways so they could face each other. Full hookups! CLEAN public bathrooms each with a private shower! They also let part of our group tent camp by the campers so the whole family could be together. The picnic tables are pretty worn down, but this place checked all the boxes for a comfortable stay. No playground or anything for kids to do, but we weren't expecting that.
Great location and the manager was friendly. Shower rooms were nice but were only cleaned once in a 10 day stay. Laundry room - machines were broken and the manager said they have been for a year. Sites were good, hookups & water worked. Just seems like they need a bunch of maintenance to get it back in good shape. Amazing views of stars at night!!!
