We got a full hookup site for our RV at a very reasonable rate for a week. The staff at the gate were friendly and helpful. The park is clean and the facilities are new.

We had been down to Westlake for a funeral and was returning home when we decided to go to the Sam Houston Jones State Park. We had initially intended to just drive through and maybe stay about 10 minutes. When we drove up to the park office, they told us that we had a free day pass since we were over 62. Because of the day pass, we ended up staying for about 2 hours. It was really peaceful in the park. They were paving the roads, which made traveling through nice. Everything is updated, and the restrooms are really nice. The cabins are new, and they even have tents set up that can be rented. We decided that we would be back one day and stay longer. Well worth the trip to the park. The only thing I didn't see was an alligator, but that's okay.

Everything here seems new and awesome! Very affordable at $25 per night, full hook-ups. Great walking trails and nice and quiet. They even close the gate at night which makes a person feel safe. Great spot and close enough to town that it's not a hassle to go for lunch.
