About Campground

Pearl River WMA has flat terrain with poor drainage and is subject to annual flooding. The forest cover varies from an all-age hardwood stand in the northern 45 percent to cypress-tupelo in the middle 35 percent and intermediate marsh in the southern 20 percent. The mixed hardwoods are made up of water, nuttall, cow, obtusa, overcup, and live oak; bitter pecan; hickory; beech; magnolia; sweetgum; and elm. The overstory varies from moderately open to closed.

Directions

Pearl River WMA is located about 6 miles east of Slidell and about 1 mile east of the town of Pearl River. You can access the WMA by vehicle from Old Hwy 11 and by boat. There are several boat ramps along U.S. Hwy 90 and concrete ramps at Davis and Crawford Landings, all of which have ample parking. There is also a commercial ramp at Old Indian Village.

Decent for a pit stop only.

Bathrooms nasty, cleaning schedule bi monthly. Constant highway noise right next to l 10. Pretty open field under big trees with Spanish moss makes it much better than a parking lot.

Free for over-59 YOs (under 59 requires state hunting or fishing license).

No assigned sites, just pick a shady spot under the beautiful live-oaks.

A big pile of trash was left by one previous camping group.

No source of water I could find; restrooms are two porta-potties. No picnic tables or fire rings.

Very close to I-10; too loud for tent campers but may be tolerable for van or RV campers.

A good deal for a solo, self-contained van-tripper like me.

NOT FREE! There is a $7/night fee in addition to the basic access pass

Close to town, good cell signal (100 mbps on Verizon). You can hear the highway

Awesome place. Stayed here a few nights doing hurricane relief. It's clean and there is a swamp tour within walking distance of the camp ground. Super cool.

This place is great. Mild highway noise, but otherwise peaceful and had no issue with other campers. Grab a Wild Louisiana stamp from walmart for less than $10 and enjoy 14 days boondocking here. One of the only spots to camp in the area in an RV that isn't a parking lot.
