We had been down to Westlake for a funeral and was returning home when we decided to go to the Sam Houston Jones State Park. We had initially intended to just drive through and maybe stay about 10 minutes. When we drove up to the park office, they told us that we had a free day pass since we were over 62. Because of the day pass, we ended up staying for about 2 hours. It was really peaceful in the park. They were paving the roads, which made traveling through nice. Everything is updated, and the restrooms are really nice. The cabins are new, and they even have tents set up that can be rented. We decided that we would be back one day and stay longer. Well worth the trip to the park. The only thing I didn't see was an alligator, but that's okay.
We were looking for a place close to Homestead Heritage when we found Post Oak RV and Cabins. We read the reviews and then stopped by to see what they looked like. We called their number and was told they had one cabin left and it had to be booked through their website. From start to finish they were very helpful and messaged us to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. The cabin was perfect for a short stay and we will definitely stay there again.
