Owners are wonderful and caring and make you feel welcome! The campground is clean and very well maintained! Great seasonal sites at a great price! The lake is well stocked with lots of panfish, crappies, bluegills, walleyes, and bullheads.
I stayed there in late August with a family member. It's a nice campground with woods, a pool, playground and basketball. It's right in front of a beautiful late but it seems to be more for boating and fishing. The community there is very friendly and welcoming. The only negative aspect was the mutant horse flies! I imagine they wouldn't be so bad at a different time of the year.
For me I believe the few improvements they are talking about is not worth over a 1'000.00 increase. I have been coming there for over 30 years with my family. I have not benefited from any of the improvements they claim they have made nor will I benefit from any of the ones they claim they will make. I planned to spend the next 10 years of my retirement there. I worked hard and saved money so I could do that. Thank you Heartland Parks for taking my retirement plans away from me. Also we had no warning about the increases. Just now finding out about the increase for next season. I feel belittled by these increases as I consider myself middle class. I'm living on a limited income from my social security. Are you trying to make that campground a place for the rich and eleite? My parents camped there until they both passed away. I have many friends and family members that camp there. You really have ruined my life by taking my retirement plans from me. I feel that Heartland Parks is all about the money and does not care anything about those of us who have spent half of our lives there. Also the internet has never worked for most of us. Most of the time I can't connect to it and my Roku tv has never been able to hook to it. I usually have to disconnect from it to even get my phone to work. I had to add extra data to my phone because the internet never works. I really don't consider that an improvement.
Edit: multiple price increases that do not reflect the (lack of) work done on the campground. May be selling the trailer and moving on since it's no longer a good deal financially. Used to be Great camping and great owners!
Lake Mason campground was amazing to stay at! The location is perfect, the pool and playground are well maintained and kid friendly, and everyone was super nice! If you can go, I highly suggest you do. My experience was amazing there and I hope that it remains that way.
