Escape to a relaxing vacation at Chapparal Campground & Resort! We have put together the very best in recreation, entertainment, campground facilities, cabin rentals, dining, after hour’s fun, and so much more just minutes from Wisconsin Dells!
This place is beautiful. The sites are large, flat, well spaced and will eventually have some trees. I did not find the place to be very friendly and certainly not family friendly as they are advertising it to be. You will need to pay for your showers - so bring quarters! They open the water park to the locals and there were some rowdy young adults having a great time at the pond but it wasn't especially family friendly. Thankfully once the pond "closes" at 8, they made their way home. It truly is a pond. Very small and very shallow. The showers finally got cleaned on the last day of our 3 night stay. The rates are already on the high end and then you get to pay for that luke warm dirty shower. Had I known ahead of time, I would have chosen elsewhere. The shower house is open all day and night. No keypads on the doors. It is pretty remote, which could be a plus or minus for you. For us it ended up being a big hindrance. The "Water Park" was the big draw of this one over others for us, but honestly, once through and my kids were over it and would have rather stayed closer to the more fun water parks in the Dells. If you're planning on spending most of your time in the Dells, skip this one. It's a strong 45 min one way drive and there are much better options much closer.
We went to the splash park which is a large area of lake water and beach area with inflatables. To go on everything is $10 per person which normally would be ok except the kayaks and peddle boats were all broken. The stand up boards were also hard to use as they took on a lot of water. We paid $5 for the use of those and children literally would run up and snatch them out of your hands. We did not get the chance to camp here. Based on what I could see, it definitely did not look like it was worth $68/night as the sites were very close together and smalll.
We have been coming to this campground for the last four years. My kids started at ages two and three. We have had an amazing time and always look forward to it as our big camping trip of the year. The swimming, the fishing, the inflatables, the nature trails, the pool, the restaurant, the service is all very good. The price is reasonable as well. I highly recommend.
This campground is a gem. Big wooded sites. Well managed. Quiet. Friendly ownership and staff. Clean facilities. We saw some family groups on the beach side, which is less wooded but perfect for groups wanting adjacent sites or for people who just want to be close to the lake. The beach was a lot of fun! You will not regret staying at Chaparral Campground.
We were riding bicycles across Wisconsin and camped at this location. The place is well kept and the campsite with electric and water was beautiful.
They answered their phone and helped when I needed quarters well after office hours.
A few things disappointed me... hence the four star. 1. Coming off the bike trail was interesting. There is a little road that has Chaparral signs but is on a closed gate. I'd take this route over the lengthier road option. It just didn't seem clear at the gate. 2. The showers cost quarters. Perhaps if I had done more research I would have known this. The shower house was great, the water warm, it just cost an extra $.50. I didn't come with quarters so thankfully the gentleman was super responsive to phone calls and came to the office to switch some bills to quarters. 3. The cost. I felt like $48 for a campsite with a two man tent was high... even with electric and water. We got in late so we didn't use the pool or anything else (plus it was chilly!).
Overall a good place... just a few thoughts.
