Many families simply stay at the Kumu Camp to enjoy the beautiful rural setting to experience the great outdoors, night skies, the drum of the ocean and the calm and peace of Kauai. In addition, Kumu Camp is open for day use by the general public for a “day at the beach”, special gatherings and other special outings.
The site includes access to out-door pavilions, various size party tents, a yurt conference room, beach volleyball, water sports, massage services and yoga classes. Complimentary coffee hour daily from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM.
Stayed in a bunkie for a few nights. It's probably the best place on the island we stayed because it's location is great and the people who worked there were friendly.
Beautiful beach with fun waves, with lots of places to sit and watch them. A covered area for sitting outside at night as well where you can talk to others staying there if you want. Not a lot of camp sites but they are well spaced apart or basically on the beach itself.
It is rustic, but there is effectively no other mid range price options on the island so it fits the budget well. We nearly abandoned another camp site to go back, but it was full for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
This camp is a hidden gem. Donna is such an amazing host. The campsite and bungalows are absolutely worth it. The showers and kitchen area are functional and clean. They also have a camp fire area that is so cozy. I will definitely be coming back here.
All-star camp experience, much better than all the island hotels as well. The only downside was that there was limited hot water, so if multiple people shower at once, it could get cold. Would recommend.
We had a great time at Kumu Camp! We booked in advance and got a beach front campsite which was incredible. The kitchen area was very convenient and the bathrooms were clean. We never felt unsafe. Locals drive up and down the beach, but they didn’t bother us.
Just returned from 7 days at Kumu Csmp. We rented the beachfront Sunrise Hale Yurt and Bungalow 2 next door. Both were clean and comfortable. We stayed at a wonderful private camp on Maui last year and were looking for something similar, but less manicured for this year and got EXACTLY what we wanted.
Coffee with Donna and talk story with Donna in the morning was a highlight, along with meeting other campers we ran into all over the island and it was like meeting old friends.
The beach is sandy and clean. We were comfortable swimming and body boarding there, which was a real treat for wintertime.
The showers are hot mostly. For the women's showers, they are def hot until one of the men turn on theirs.
We all felt safe, comfortable and the vibe there is great. It has a nice mix of people, from locals, mainlanders to folks from other countries.
We would absolutely return and highly recommend.
