About Campground

Kentucky River Campground was established in 1973. We are located right on the beautiful Kentucky River just minutes from our state's historic capital city and is situated along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. For over 40 years friends and families have come together for relaxation, good food and great fun. Throughout the summer we offer a full schedule of activities for children and adults alike. From Memorial Day through Halloween we are always celebrating life on the river. In addition to the great American traditional holidays we have a few of our own. Campsites for our annual Rock Bar Party and many other events fill up fast so call early to join in on the fun at KRC where our motto is: "Relax!...you're on river time now."

We offer many great amenities including:

Fantabulous little campground right on The Kentucky River. Angie was an outstanding and extremely friendly and accommodating host. The Price was right... perfect location for us (9 mins from Buffalo Trace) and while the sites were somewhat tight together, it was very quiet while we were there and not busy (its early October). Loved the free firewood.... all dried and split! We'll definitely be back!

We had a great time at the campground met many nice people that truly made us feel at home and as if we’ve known them our whole life. Angie the manager was fantastic, she hads made the campground a family affair which we rarely see on our travels around the Country. We hope to return again soon and visit with our new found friends in Kentucky!

If you’re looking for peace and quiet this is NOT the place. It’s loud and there’s music going on all hours of the night. Spaces are squeezed in there like sardines. Literally there is inches between your space and your neighbors. Most of the people who stay here are full timers so there’s golf carts everywhere and people stopping in the street to have conversations and all kinds of weird permanent structures. We stayed the weekend. The cable connection did not work. We asked them to fix it or move us and they did neither. I asked for a partial refund of my fee and I was promptly ignored. We won’t be returning.

The spots are tight but this is the most friendliest group of people we've ever met. I would say 85% of everyone is FT / seasonal. It is right on the Kentucky River and has full hook ups. I tried to book a site online but said it was full. I took a shot, sent an email and we got in. 🙂 There's a turtle pond which is a must see. Playground for the kids right next to the pavilion with a fireplace for the adults. It is down in the hollar with trees all around, but we managed to get just enough on our starlink to watch hulu, make calls, emails, but not enough for zoom. We were in site 80. It appears the back row of the 80's sites is where transient would stay. We like it, we'd come back again.
