Spraying herbicide 20' from me and my children??? Broken picnic bench(s).
Camp host was nowhere to be found, but came to collect after 9:30 pm. Sat at our picnic bench with all our stuff without being invited, to fill out his paperwork. $24 for a broken campsite, unprofessional camp host, and a morning mist of glyphosate.
I expect an official to contact me!
Nice area. The park is kept very clean and mowed. We saw staff out there cleaning the campsites shortly after people left. Police make rounds several times a day. You see state workers improving the area. Hosts are out and about in their carts.
I'm pining for the chance to visit Big Pine campground again. The camp host is just as nice as can be and she keeps her bathrooms and showers clean and bug free!
Update Update...
My pines have been answered and we're back baby! The bathrooms are even cleaner than they were before and I met the camp hostess and she has a name (which I'm pretty sure is Sherry). Yesterday her and her host fella were scooting around in their golf cart cleaning up the vacant campsites with those grabber claw things you see prisoner's using on the sides of the highway...Or you see them on late night infomercials with old people getting cans off top shelves without falling off ladders...I'm talking about the grabber things not the camp hosts...maybe I should google the name of those things they were using so this review wouldn't be so discombobulated...maybe that's what those things are called...discombobulators...The campsites have great rocky sandy beaches that aren't steps away, but not too far of a walk away and the paths to them are nice and mowed so you don't have to traipse through high weeds to get there...
This park as heavily geared towards boating and fishing. I did not see any hiking trailheads.
The campground is decent, most of the spots are pseudo-pull through. Like mini-loops. Campsites are well spaced and the restrooms are nice. Sites have tables and fire pits. And Ticks! Ugh.
Nice camping here! Had a great time. Bathrooms were nice and clean. Trash dumpsters all over so you don't have to drive your trash to the dumpster. They have a laundry facility and staff is friendly at the general store/bait shop.
