Great spot for a family camping adventure. Good hiking and the water wasn't too crowded, even on Labor Day weekend. The shower facility was great and everything was close to our campsite. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and relax in this wonderful Kansas gem.
Had a great time relaxing and being detached from everyday stress. Honey enjoyed the fishing and camping, and it provided an opportunity to bond doing things he loved.
Staff was cordial, and all the other campers were friendly as well.
It took us 3 hours to complete this hike. It’s on the west side of the park. We did the blue, orange and green trails and it was about 7 miles. We also hiked to the canyon and it was so worth it! It’s absolutely beautiful. The entire hike was gorgeous. There are a couple creek crossings. We only saw two other people the entire day. No water - bring your own. Also, we used a map left by a fellow Google reviewer. It was immensely helpful since these hiking trails maps couldn’t be found on the state park website.
Went tent camping overnight. Stayed at eagles nest Northside campground. Found a great shaded spot with a peekaboo view of the lake. Camp hosts we're very nice and informative. Great beach for swimming And fishing. Facilities we're a bit far from us but it wasn't a big deal for us. Nicely maintained and decent fire rings with cooking grates. Hiking trails were fairly easy. Wildlife is abundant. Such a beautiful place.. The only downfall we're the ticks! They were in full force so I definitely recommend spraying yourself
Beautiful lake in south central Kansas. Clean campsites, hiking trails, horse camp, rock formations. Close to McPherson and Salina KS
