This KOA is midway between St. Louis, Denver, the Black Hills, and Texas. You'll have easy access to I-70 as well as I-135 to Wichita. Located in a shady meadow northwest of Salina, you can relax in a lawn chair while fishing in the private pond. Swim in the pool, play horseshoes, enjoy the Jump pad, watch the kids go for a train ride, or rent a bike. All sites are pull-thru with free Wi-Fi and cable available on most. At Salina, spend more than one day seeing the area's historic sites. Visit Abilene (about 25 miles E), known as the boyhood home of President Dwight Eisenhower. Check out the museum chronicling Ike's achievements at the Eisenhower Center. Visit Lindsborg, Kansas' Little Sweden (S of the campground). Stop at Rolling Hills Zoo (6 miles W on I-70). In summer (Sat. and Sun.), enjoy the all-you-can-eat pancake breakfasts. "Delicious Hunt Brothers Pizza and Wings can be delivered to your site (hours vary; ask in the office)." Pool: Memorial Weekend - Labor Day Weekend. Max pull thru 80 feet. Your hosts: Daryle & Terri Schwerdt.
From jct US 81/I-135 & I-70 (exit 250): Go 1-3/4 mi E on I-70 (exit 252), then 1/2 block N on Hwy 143, then 1/2 mi W on Diamond Dr.
Nice place and so close to the highway. Convenient for traveller's. We are driving from the east to the west and needed a place to set up camp for the night. The ladies were so helpful and our escort to the sites was amazing. Reminded us where everything is, including the pool. We quickly ran over to the pool for a cool down dip. It was +40 in Kansas yesterday.
The sites are well maintained and the bathrooms are incredibly clean. Nice job folks. We will stop back in someday.
Just overnight but site was easy in. A little tight for our large rig back by the wall. Didn't see much because it was so dark. Only used elec because of the low temperature. For large RV towing, pull thru has large landscaping timber right at the door steps to trip over. And can't place a step there. So look at that before putting the lifters down and situating your rig
Had an excellent weekend here with family and we rented three different cabins! I just loved how each cabin was decorated uniquely. We could tell that a great deal of love went into this KOA. The kids had a blast on the jumping pad and swimming pool. We also had fun playing ping-pong, basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, and at the playground. I definitely recommend this getaway and it was so affordable which made us want to stay even longer!!
We live in Hutch and didn't want to go far for a family get together. We have stayed in many KOAs and this one was one of the best!
We stayed in the Camping Cabins and had 3 sites. CC2 the awesome and had an outdoor kitchen area which was great for our family and located in the back so we didn't disturb anyone. All of the Cabins were uniquely decorated and included a refrigerator and water! There were several dog runs and lots of outdoor activities for us to do.
The bathrooms in the back were very clean and private, huge showers. We have a camper but decided on the cabin since we were only there for the weekend, but the camper sites were very nice also! The future at all the sites was amazing.
This is ran by a family who obviously takes pride in their business. The only activity our kids didn't experience was the train (we didn't ask if it was running) and the peddle carts. The pool was a salt water pool and there was a kiddie pool both well maintained.
We really enjoyed our trip, thank you!
