About Campground

Jones Island Marine State park is a 188-acre marine camping park with 25,000-feet of saltwater shoreline on the San Juan channel. The park features a beautiful loop trail down the center of the island then around the western shore. A herd of black-tail deer live on the island. The deer have become habituated to the presence of humans and are quite tame.

The park has 24 primitive campsites which are on a first come first serve basis. Two of the sites are part of the Cascadia Marine Trail and strictly reserved for those arriving by human- or wind-powered watercraft. Drinking water is available May through September. The park has six composting toilets. There is no garbage service to the park. Visitors must pack-out what they pack-in.

Jones Island Marine Park a hidden gem of the San Juan Islands. Just a few moorings, a seasonal dock and limited anchorage help preserve the serenity of this magical place. Highly recommend for sea kayakers as the most premium campsites are reserved for those arriving in human powered craft. Five Stars.

Beautiful spot in the San Juans with a dock and fantastic camping grounds. Lots of great hiking and beaches make this place an all-around win. Be wary of the raccoons though! Make sure to bring a container to secure your food an trash.

Absolutely stunning place to camp! If you can make it out there it is well worth it. Water taxis are available from Anacortes for about $70 per person. Or, you can paddle from Deer Harbor on Orcas island if you have a conoe or kayak. My friends did it in an inflatable canoe and it took them about 1.5 hours.

And there's clean running water and bathrooms which is awesome because it's less stuff that you have to bring. There are trails all around the island and covered picnic areas as well. Really just a beautiful place to visit or stay.

It is dog friendly, but they must be on leash at all times. The rangers are there almost every day and they will remind you. Also, you need to clean up after your pets. This is obvious to most people, but you'd be surprised.

Be aware of the raccoons on the north side of the island. They will get into your stuff if it's not properly secured. And the deer on the south side are very bold. They'll hang out within like 10 feet of you and your camp. You are not supposed to feed them, but they are surprisingly comfortable with people. I'm guessing people don't follow that rule too well.

Beautiful, peaceful, cute island. I only found one deer. So It's a scam when They say You will find deers. I was sad about it. The beach is amazing, nice rocks, crab and shells. Birds are cute. Sunset are the most beautiful thing in the San Juan Islands
