Absolutely stunning place to camp! If you can make it out there it is well worth it. Water taxis are available from Anacortes for about $70 per person. Or, you can paddle from Deer Harbor on Orcas island if you have a conoe or kayak. My friends did it in an inflatable canoe and it took them about 1.5 hours.
And there's clean running water and bathrooms which is awesome because it's less stuff that you have to bring. There are trails all around the island and covered picnic areas as well. Really just a beautiful place to visit or stay.
It is dog friendly, but they must be on leash at all times. The rangers are there almost every day and they will remind you. Also, you need to clean up after your pets. This is obvious to most people, but you'd be surprised.
Be aware of the raccoons on the north side of the island. They will get into your stuff if it's not properly secured. And the deer on the south side are very bold. They'll hang out within like 10 feet of you and your camp. You are not supposed to feed them, but they are surprisingly comfortable with people. I'm guessing people don't follow that rule too well.
