Hones Pointe was established in 1988. It was built by four insurance agents to elude our sales managers in a unique natural setting. Over the years, we have planted many different varieties of trees and perennials to observe. Also evidence exists of this area being an Indian camp long ago as suggested by arrowheads and an old handmade rock wall.
Primitive camping where you can pick your own scenic spot. We will furnish picnic table, fire ring, garbage can, and charcoal grill during your campout.
Welcome!
Awesome and unique campground! A family favorite of ours. Certainly a hidden gem! Very peaceful and scenic environment. There is a petting zoo, play park and a nice creek for children to enjoy. In addition to the beautiful scenery, each unique camp area is provided with a fire ring, grill, picnic table and trash can at the minimum. Steve was super nice. He arrived to feed the animals while my kids were enjoying the petting zoo. Steve provided my girls with food so they could feed the animals themselves. My kids thought that was absolutely awesome!
The owner of this campground, Steve, made my friends and I feel right at home. The property is well maintained and very welcoming. Steve supplied us wood and made sure we were well taken care of. The port-a-potties are well spaced between campsites but sometimes you find that the previous camper did not leave the place clean. Make sure to bring toilet paper because there is no guarantee it will be inside when you need it. The campsite we chose was huge and fit 6 large tents and a large canopy. I felt safe the whole weekend and had a perfect trip!
A different and unique setting of campsites. We picked the one that had direct access to the wider creek. Our 7 yr old dog enjoyed the waters. Lots of privacy in most campsites. There weren't too many ppl so we could pick the site of our choice. We went on a Friday evening with the thought of returning on Sunday but it poured so badly that we decided to leave on Sat morning. It's probably the best hipcamp around that area. Generous amt of firewood are given for $10 bucks. Would definitely go back next summer.
I actually give this 10 out of 5 stars! This is the BEST campground I have ever been too! Steve is the best host. I love the campsites, they are so pretty, spacious, and private. I was sad to see that it wasn't full, I think its the best kept secret! Everyone needs to check this place out. I loved that there were great community spaces for kids, for adults, for hiking, and swimming! I love this place. I will be back multiple times in the future! We even got the most delicious gift for the camp owner (sweet tea vodka!).
This place is amazing. Most sites are very spread out, lots of variety (for example, sites tucked in the trees, or out in the meadow, or along the creek, or near the common area). There is a ton to do without leaving the property, like exploring the creek or trails, games, and a playset.
We also loved that each spot was clearly marked and there is solar lighting to help walk back from the bathroom at night.
Since you're far from any city or highway, it's quiet at night (unless you're near the farm by the entrance or petting zoo, you'll hear the critters) and there are a bazillion stars.
Within a few miles is a really cool roadside store (Pharm) and old bridge to explore/fish. The creek alongside the property is great for seeing fossils and critters, the kids explored it for a few hours and probably would have played there all afternoon. The property is also super clean and well maintained.
Seriously, this is our new favorite place.
