The Ho'omaluhia Botanical Gardens are situated against the majestic Ko'olau Range and offer the only city campsites that are not on the beach. Set in a picturesque rainforest, the Kahua Kuou campgrounds offer distinctive camping among plants from India and Sri Lanka. A printed permit is required to camp in this park. All fees are non-refundable.
This is one of the best places in Honolulu.
No reservations are required. The trails are very easy and the drive is fantastic it’s like you are driving to a dream land.
It’s an amazing experience, rest rooms are available and huge parking spots everywhere in the garden.
Highly recommend this place.
The view from the lake is absolutely gorgeous. Perfect for taking pictures for instagram or to put up in your home. This is a great family activity, ideal for elders or little ones who cant commit to anything too strenuous. You can go on a scenic walk, have a picnic, paint a picture, go camping, or all the above.
Beautiful drive through park that has a parking lot and a visitors center. Saw my first cacao tree and some amazing flowers and trees. There is an easy walk to a lake with gorgeous views the whole way.
I've been there only a couple of times because I live rather far from it but it's a wonderful garden but will go there again and again. Huge but well maintained. I wish the path to the lake has more paved so that it's easier for people with a stroller but can't ask because it's good enough. Can't believe it's free admission. Highly recommended.
Good sized parking lots available.
