About Campground

Previously the Elk Creek Campground

Located next to the WEST entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, nested in the beautiful mountain town of Grand Lake is a quiet place to camp in the mountains. The campground offers spacious back-in RV sites, rustic cabins, and tent sites. We also offer a general store, 24 hour laundry, a TV lounge and game room. Grand Lake is a classic when it comes to mountain towns. With its wooden sidewalks and wonderful restaurants, it also offers swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, motor sports, fishing and, of course, the magnificent Rocky Mountain National Park with hundreds of miles to hike and explore. And if you want a star show, the Milky Way in all her splendor is easily visible from the campground.

Gorgeous campgrounds, clean amenities and such kind staff! We'll definitely be back! We saw a moose on our first night! Nicely built playground that both of my 10 yr olds tested out.

Overall it's a nice campground but there is room for improvement. Our site was on the upper loop and it wasn't very level front to back. Some of the sites look like they've been updated recently so it appears the owners are working on improvements. The views from our site were gorgeous and there was a cow moose on a nearby site when we got here.

My family and I traveled to 15 states on a road trip. We tent camped and stayed at mostly at KOA’s. Our favorite spot ended being Grand Lake KOA. The Location is awesome very close to Rocky Mountain National Park and Grand Lake. It’s very clean, maintained, quiet, wildlife on property (moose), safe they lock the doors at night but can unlock with a code, very friendly staff. My kids want to come back. I think another reviewer was complaining about mice which I did not see. We did see 2 Pikas or maybe Voles they were quick, but not a complaint. You are in the wilderness you are going to see animals, bugs, etc. If you don’t have smaller animals then you won’t have larger ones. I hope to visit again soon. 5/5 stars.

We stayed two nights in Site 22. It is W & E only. The site backs up to nature & has its own path up the hill to a lovely overlook. The people working here were very friendly & helpful. Everything was clean and well maintained. We would stay here again. Only drawback was the high price tag. I guess that’s what you pay for close access to RMNP and Grand Lake.

We are working here for the season and this is the best campground I have ever seen. All the employees are great co-workers. But most of all the owners (Greg, Perri, Jamie, and Mark) are amazing and the managers Terri and Brad are amazing. We love it here! If you want a great camping experience, this is the place! Amazing sites, moose, nice clean restrooms and showers (HOT), plus the playground, pond, dog park, and basketball court. And the lake a few minutes away.
