No joke, this place has been trashed. Went up last week and saw no less than 200 parties camping here. Rangers are going to have to put a gate up, or put in a car park and reservation system, cause this is not sustainable use anymore.
If there is any fish here, we couldn't find them. It was a nice camping spot however.
Beautiful place for camping, but be careful there is big bear living around. It was close to our camp
Seems like the University posted this spot up for all the college students to go to. Trash, loud music, huge campfires, dogs off leash running around pooping wherever, humans too! Also, no fish. Didn’t need to bring a rod to see that. I’d like to see this area gated up for some years for restoration. Beautiful land though. Hopefully changes will happen.
1st time camping in Colorado and it was perfect. Lovely area, beautiful views, quiet, friendly campers. Had the best time, climbed mountains, walked around the lake, rode bikes, had a campfire, cooked over open fire and loved every minute of it. Will definitely return. Absolutely no amenities, bring what you need.
