Dispersed camping is prohibited within ¼ mile of either side of South St. Vrain Creek beginning at the Ceran St. Vrain trailhead and ending ¼ mile from the intersection of South St. Vrain Creek and National Forest System Road 252.1. MAP: https://trails.colorado.gov/trailheads/ceran-2341
The easy Ceran Saint Vrain Trail follows the South Saint Vrain Creek downstream for 1.9 miles. The trail ends at National Forest System Road 252, a rough four-wheel drive road. This road climbs 0.5 miles northwest to a four-way intersection from which it is a steep half-mile to the left up to Miller Rock. Miller Rock is a scenic high-point that offers 360-degree views.
Motorized vehicles prohibited. Dispersed camping is allowed at sites that are least 200 feet away from the trailhead, trail and creek. Campfires are permissible unless seasonal restrictions are in effect (contact district office). Fishing and hunting are allowed in accordance with regulations established by the Colorado Parks & Wildlife.
Wonderful, easy hiking trail with a few rocky areas. Approx 4 mile hike thru woods and following a brook with small waterfalls along the way. Adequate parking. No restrooms.
We were doing the scenic Peak-to-Peak highway, and stopped at this trail to stretch our legs. I'm so glad we did! It was absolutely stunning-- seriously, one of the prettiest places I've ever seen. We just did a short half-mile stretch and it was a very easy walk (I have a broken arm right now, so we have to stick to the easiest trails).
4 December 2022 - Came here for a nice hike. It was amazing! I only saw 2 people, so it was nice to just be on the trail alone with everything covered in snow. It started snowing a bit and was so amazing.
I would recommend taking a picture of the trail map. The path, even though covered in snow, yesterday, was pretty trampled down, so I was confident I was following the path. There were a few spots that were a bit icy, so watch a bit carefully.
The paved road does end a bit before the parking, and the parking is a bit down below the road. My truck has 4x4, but I would be cautious if you don't have 4x4 or AWD, getting back up from the parking with that dirt road covered in snow and ice could be tricky.
10/9/22 around 11am. About 50% of the parking spaces were available. Perfect weather, great and easy forest hike. Well marked, no ice, no snow, no bugs. Goes along the creek and you can cross it it a lot of spots if you like. Connects with other hikes so you can make it as short or as long as you like. Dogs allowed, met many people in the way.
This trail is beautiful! Follows a mountain river and nicely shaded so perfect in summer. Pet friendly on leash. Lots of places to drop off the trail and splash in the water. Downside is parking is limited. In peak season you will want to arrive early to ensure parking. Very popular trail.
