About Campground

The North Fork Poudre Campground is located along the Deadman Road west of Red Feather Lakes, near the banks of the North Fork Cache la Poudre River in a dense lodgepole pine forest. This is an older facility with short parking spurs that will not accommodate larger RVs. Each of the nine sites have a picnic table, tent pad and fire grate. Recreational activities in the area include hiking, stream fishing and four-wheel driving.

Directions

Drive 21 miles north of Fort Collins on U.S. Highway 287.Turn left (west) onto the Red Feather Lakes Road (County Road 74E). Continue west as the road designation changes to County Road 86 (Deadman Road, formerly County Road 162), through Red Feather Lakes. The campground is on the north side of the road roughly seven miles west of Red Feather Lakes Village.

12 campsites next to a creek (spot 8 is best). Secluded and quiet. No power or water, but it does have vaulted toilets.

The road to get there is a bit rough and dirt, but SOO worth it!! Such a beautiful place! Sites are pretty good sized. Has a picnic table and firepit with a partial lid for grilling. We even had room to set up our 10x10 canopy Outhouse isn't horrible, but it is an outhouse! *Womens ran out of toilet paper our last day... make sure to bring your own, as we had, just in case! * ;) There is a creek that runs by the campground, very peaceful. We even saw a Momma and Baby Moose down by the creek, then the next day walking through the campground.

Closed now, but you can still walk in. It is a gorgeous place. Magical with no one there. We saw a moose meandering through. My son loved it too. Lots of running and visiting river islands and banks. Family members report the bathrooms aren't usually very clean (closed right now, so I don't know) and some spots can be a little small.
