From I-10, exit onto US 90 and head south to LA 83. Continue south and turn right onto LA 319, following this road to the park.
Nice place to spend the day with your family. There's a few Pavillions and picnic tables. Just bring your own tent just in case they are occupied. Good place to fish from the shore, too. $3 per person to get in. Also has a public boat ramp.
The park is the middle of reconstruction, so the roads are extremely bad. However, it would be nice to come back with an RV or to rent one of their cabins. The flies are bad in a couple of spots but not throughout the park.
There is a nature boardwalk that would be great when the water is high. It was just mud when I was there.
3 dollars per person day entry pears are packed with people on weekends easy to lose tacle so don't use anything you won't miss also caught a few of people's old hooks and leders you can still manage to ketch a few if you are there at the right time with the right set up and bait

The park is adding camper areas--as electrical poles are being placed in.
There's a great boardwalk trail. It's long, so if you aren't a walker, I suggest you don't go.
Beach areas: you have to park up front and walk to the beach areas.
A man caught a big red fish while I was there. Happy 🎣!
