Singletary Lake State Park offers group camps available to nonprofit organizations. The camps provide a unique camping experience, creating the perfect setting in which to interpret natural surroundings and to unite in work and play. At least 20 people must be in the group, and the group must also be a part of a verifiable organization.
Camp Ipecac can accommodate up to 84 people. It is open from April 1 through October 31.
The camp includes 10 standard cabins (twin bunk beds for 8 people per cabin), and one cabin that is accessible to people with limited mobility or disabilities (twin bunk beds for 4 people total). It also includes an accessible mess hall and an accessible bathhouse with restrooms.
All amenities are provided for campers, except for food, cleaning supplies, and bed linens.
A basketball goal, a volleyball net, a horseshoe pit, a group-sized charcoal grill, and picnic tables are located near the cabins. A campfire circle in each camp offers the perfect setting for an evening of fellowship and marshmallow roasting.
The facilities were built by the Resettlement Administration. The camp was named for Carolina Ipecac, Euphorbia ipecacuanhae, a herb common in the region's sandy soil. Extract taken from the herb's dried roots is used for medicinal purposes.
Reservations are accepted for the calendar year beginning on December 1 of the previous year. Deposits per facility is required for the reservation to be processed. See "Deposits" below for more information.
Reservations include access to the swimming pier from April through October (open to campers only), as well as a hiking trail, fishing, and paddling.
In June and July, the camp must be rented by the week, with a check-in on Sunday and check-out on Saturday.
Four cabins that sleep 12 people each in twin beds. Mess hall with fully-equipped kitchen that even has an ice maker. Bathrooms with showers. Fire ring, basketball court, sand volleyball, horseshoes, short walk to the lake.
Absolutely Beautiful and I love this place Definitely going be be visiting more often and plan to rent a cabin there soon
As I remembered it, my family reunion has been coming here for 50 years. We always stay for a week. Great camping experience. No A.C., warning....lots of ants, dont stand still outside for long, good thing is they only come out in the morning and later in the evening. Private lake, canoeing, volleyball, basketball, fire pit. Close to water park and motor carts, public beach has tons of fun things to do as well. You will LOVE it.
We only rode through. It looked like a great place to take a group or have a family reunion. Warm months would be great! I would contact the park for info on booking a cabin.
I spent a couple hours there walking my dog. Great scenery and very peaceful park. The lake is great for boating. No gasoline motors allowed so a canoe or kayak is perfect.
