Amazing place to experience!! I enjoyed few hours walking running with my dog on our way to Salt Lake City. It’s really cool place to take nice pictures take in the scenery.

Remember don’t get salty

The salt flats is such a cool place to check out! The pavement ends in the middle of the salt flats and you have the option to drive your vehicle onto them and go farther out. Took my jeep out and had a blast. Not many other people there when I went.

The largest (and probably the only) walkable field of salt in the world. Note, if you are traveling from Wendover - you MUST take turn to Bonneville Salt Flats Raceway. The eastbound Rest Area stop is not super spectacular and does NOT have access to the salt field. Getting to the north side of the road will add another hour to your trip (but that is still worth it).

It's cool, but not as cool as I hoped. There is a relatively small piece on the northern viewpoint (westbound) where flats are truly white and feel like expand to horizon. On the way there - not all shine - somewhere a bit dirty, many dirty wheel tracks.

Note that one can not (at least easily) cross from north to south (eastbound) viewpoint. Southern does not have such good views.

When we were there - toilets where not working, so make sure to have water to wash your feet after salt.

Did not understand where they do speed records.

First picture is there, second - on the way, last - from the mountain in Wendover

The area was flooded, so we could not drive on the Salt Flats. However, the water looked like a lake that served as a reflecting pond for the gorgeous mountains in the background. The views were stunning. The area with the buildings was really run-down. The bathrooms looked like they had been locked for many years. The vending machines looked like they had been empty for many years too. It is a shame that the state does not take care of this area. We were even expecting a museum or a gift shop that did not exist. This could be a tourist destination if the state would invest a little money into it.
