Great place to camp or just spend the day. Places for RVs or tents with electric and water hook up. They have cabins but as of yesterday they are still being remodeled after a flood. Fishing, swimming, picnic tables and boat dock. Alcohol ok. Store on site. Bathrooms are also being remodeled so they have temporary port-a-potty right now.

I camped from 10/22/21-10/24/21 at campsite 51 & the electricity wasn't even working. I informed the owner & was never offered a refund, nor a solution. I didn't cause a scene but most other people would have. Luckily, I had family camped next to us who had an extra extension cord to connect to their breaker box. I understand there was a flood many years ago but there's got to be a better solution to the spider infestation and the dirt throughout the restroom/shower areas. I would assume it's not as big of an issue if you're in an RV or camper, but for people in a tent, something needs to change. There's some toilet bowl lids that are broken & restroom locks that don't work. The bagged ice is priced sky high at $5+ for a 16 lb. bag. The marina itself is nice inside. The owner is very accommodating if you need to purchase something from the marina while it's not open. He's also a down to earth guy with helpful fishing tips. The grass is cut low & grounds are kept clean. Plenty wildlife to see & if camping overnight, a bright full moon is awesome to see over the water. Pretty decent fishing as well. I'm hopeful that the new owner will be what big creek marina needed in order to thrive again. Still a long ways to go it seems regarding upgrading & replacing things.

The campsites on Lake Somerville at Big Creek Marina are so much better than I expected. I was able to take my 3 year old splashing and swimming in the shallow waves at the edge of the lake without worrying about lots of rocks like at other beaches. She loved the giant sandy area, and we loved the firepit, picnic tables, and water spigot so we could have an awesome dinner and smores. It's far away from Houston that you can see plenty of stars, but close enough for a day trip. And its a good spot for fishing too. We'll definitely come back.

We rented one of their cabins #14 this past weekend. Since we took our boat and cart and couldn't take our camper also. Very spacious, alot of room for a lot of people. Mattresses weren't too bad either we all slept comfortably. Cabin was clean and air was on when we got there, which was very nice we didn't have to cool it down after lugging all our stuff up stairs.

(You will need to bring EVERHTHING with you to stay in the cabins, they have hot plate, small convection oven and fridge, no microwave)

The beaches are clean (could be gone over like in 2020 to even it out again after the high water events) and the store has most of what you need if you forget something. Boat ramps are maintained and free of catfish heads and debris that could be tire nightmares. Plenty of dumpsters everywhere not overflowing or stinking. The staff is always nice and have never had an issue at any of our stays here.

I highly recommend this place, they have much more space to play around than some of the other camp grounds on the lake. It's not campers on top of campers.

**For the owner, it would be nice to keep your outdoor bathrooms a little cleaner, too many spider webs in there to use the facility's comfortably. Stairs need to be reworked on the cabins, some of the boards are loose and during the storms there was water spraying into our kitchen window and the wind made the metal on the roof pop a little. We did report this to the office when we left today. We did thoroughly enjoy the lightning show, and we didn't die, so it was a good time. I have been coming for a couple of years now in my own parties or with others, it's getting better each trip as far as cleanliness around the grounds. Also the AC unit between 13 and 14 needs some kind of sign or marker, almost wacked my head when going up since it hangs over the stairs and with the loose boards you're looking down not up.
