A beautiful Park situated in the meanders of the Cimerron River run by the City of Liberal just 7 miles west. Outstanding, large concrete plans pad sites with water and electric for only $15. Bathrooms are functional and clean, and camp host is friendly and helpful. Arkalon Park is truly a hidden gem in the Plains of Southwest Kansas. Highly recommended!
We have traveled now for 9 weeks from CA to Maine and Quebec, now heading back, and this may be the most beautiful and well-maintained place we’ve stayed. We had planned on 1 night but stayed 2. Green grass, lovely walking trails, trees all around, and a picturesque train passing by on a distant old wooden trestle bridge a few times a day, created a peaceful relaxing atmosphere. Our pad, A4, was level concrete and had picnic table with a cabana, bbq, fire ring, lots of fire wood, and afternoon shade. Bathrooms/showers old but clean and perfectly maintained. Hosts super kind and friendly. Look for the bridge; don’t trust your GPS.
Dropped in off the road looking for a place to pitch my tent for the night. I was given a choice of sites close to the restrooms/showers. Showers actually have hot water! Very nice location, very peaceful. Does get just a little highway and train noise but I personally did not find it unbearable. They have RV and tent sites. Prices are extremely great. If you are passing through or just need a place to get a way, this is a very nice choice. Staying only one night I didn't get a chance to explore the area much but I'm sure you can find plenty to do or just stay here and relax!
Oh, and those who might be worried about tornadoes, they have storm shelters throughout the campgrounds. And, that reminds me, one thing you can do in Liberal is to go see Dorothy's House from the Wizard of Oz. 🙂
Great little stop in the middle of no where. You wouldn’t know it existed unless you looked. The hosts were wonderful, we truck tent camped and is cost us 5 bucks since we didn’t need hook ups! It’s quiet and nested away from the main roads
Beautiful area with older but very serviceable showers and bathroom.
Newer playground and large pavilion.
We would come back easily.
A little gem off of the beaten path. Sites are good size, lots of trees and grass.
The only reason I gave four stars and not five is because the bathrooms need work. The amount of dead moths on the floor was disturbing. If there was a broom and dust pan I would’ve been happy to sweep them up so I could take a shower.
